GRASSINGTON Festival has launched new flags featuring an amalgamation of images designed by the pupils of Grassington Primary School.

Back in February, the festival launched a flag design competition at the school as it felt its old flag was out-of-date and did not reflect the strength of its involvement with local schools.

Overwhelmed with the receipt of 57 entries, organisers decided to use elements from them all in the new flag design. Festival director Kate Beard said: “The entries were all so fantastic we couldn’t bear to eliminate any, so hopefully pupils will recognise bits of their own design in the pink, orange and green flags which are now starting to appear round the village.

"There will, in fact, be 35 new flags on display to represent the festival’s 35th birthday this year.”
