EVENT organisers marking one year since the Tour de France passed through Silsden are gearing up to help provide a wealth of summer entertainment in the town.

Members of the Silsden Grand deParty group have reminded local people not to miss the series of community events due to begin next month.

Group spokesman Reverend David Griffiths said: "The first event is the Grand Day out in Silsden Park on Saturday, with fun activities for all the family.

"A week later, on Saturday July 11, there is a Showcase Silsden Day which is an opportunity for Silsden residents to visit four town centre venues where many of Silsden’s societies, and voluntary and community organisations will be on hand to demonstrate what they do. A craft fair in Silsden Town Hall at the same time will showcase local craft talent.

"The third weekend will be Proms on the Farm on July 18 at Sycamore Farm, Brunthwaite. And on Sunday July 26 Silsden has its annual gala.

"We'd like to say a big thank you to all the different groups who are organising Silsden community events during our Grand deParty month."
