ORGANISERS of Silsden's annual Proms on the Farm have hailed the latest event as the best yet.

An estimated 1,000-plus people converged on Sycamore Farm, Brunthwaite, on Saturday for the charity extravaganza.

"It was absolutely fantastic and we had more people than ever there," said Rosalie Holroyd, for the organising team.

"We were helped by the weather. It was a lovely evening and the atmosphere was just wonderful."

The event was opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Cllr Joanne Dodds, and the best-dressed gazebo accolade went to the Simpson family – as the cartoon Simpsons!

Music was provided by the Sultans of Swing, the Big Bang and the Skelmanthorpe Band, with soloist Sarah Halstead. All the favourites from the Last Night of the Proms were played.

The event also featured an auction and raffle, with an array of donated lots and prizes.

Since starting 12 years ago, Proms of the Farm has raised more than £100,000 for Manorlands Hospice and Silsden Methodist Church and this year's total has yet to be finalised.
