AN 18-year-old with a history of violence was sentenced to a 12-month community order, with rehabilitation, after admitting punching a man as he passed him in High Street, Skipton.
James Reynoldson, who at the time of the offence on May 13, was already serving a nine-month rehabilitation order imposed in the youth court, was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work.
Skipton magistrates also told him that he must pay £20 to his victim, Simon McMinn, £85 in costs, a £60 surcharge and a £150 criminal court charge.
The bench heard that Reynoldson, of Watson Houses, Skipton, had barged into Mr McMinn, spat at him and then punched him, causing a small cut.
When asked by the bench if he wished to say anything, Reynoldson claimed he did not barge into McMinn or spit at him.
