EARBY Library will help people to discover their World War One ancestors online next month.

Staff from the county council's community heritage team will hold an ancestry surgery at Earby on Wednesday, August 5, from 10am to 5pm.

The one-to-one surgery will show people how to use the internet to research their family history at the time of the Great War.

Fiona McIntyre, community heritage manager, said: "The surgery is 30 minutes long and very hands-on. It will include tips on how to use helpful sites such as Ancestry.

"Anybody who has an ancestor who was involved in World War One and wants to find out more about them are welcome to come along.

"We'll look at the records available and any other useful sources of information.

"These sessions are useful for anyone who is interested or who wants to take this further and work on their family tree. Maybe they have already started their family tree and have got a bit stuck with their research."

The sessions are free to attend but booking a 30-minute slot is essential as places are limited.

To book, call 0300 123 6703 to book or call in at the library.
