SKIPTON Car Show is set to return following an enormously successful first event.

Hundreds of classic and vintage cars and motorbikes, and even a double decker bus, lined the High Street in June for the event, which proved a big hit with visitors.

It also raised about £5,000 for charities and organisations, including the Swadford Centre and the Skipton Food Bank.

And now, following popular demand, organiser Jason Smith says he will return with a second event next June.

He added: "We believe about 8,000 people came to the show in June, and the atmosphere was amazing.

"I'm appealing to any businesses who want to get involved with sponsorship to get in touch now."

He already has car owners wanting to attend, and would particularly like to hear from those who have a precious car or motorbike, but who don't normally take them to shows.

Mr Smith said: "Its not just about concours cars – I'd like to see people who have their cars as a hobby coming along.

"People were saying to me at the last show it was nice to talk to the general public and share their hobby."

He plans to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at next year's event.
