SANTA will enlist the help of local Rotarians to set up a grotto in Settle Market Place for the switch-on of the Christmas Lights on Saturday from 2pm to 5pm.

Rotary president Floyd Schofield said: “I hope everyone will take advantage of Santa’s schedule to come to his Grotto at the lights’ switch-on, and then see him again when he is touring the local area or at one of the Settle supermarkets on a Saturday in December.

“Local charities, individuals and good causes will again benefit from our collections.”

Santa’s touring itinerary is (visits start at 5pm unless stated otherwise): Monday - Long Preston; Tuesday and Wednesday – Hellifield; Thursday - Upper Settle and Longdale Avenue; Friday, December 4 – Settle’s Mill Close and Northfields; Monday, December 7 – Clapham, followed, at 6pm, by Austwick; Tuesday, December 8 – Rathmell followed, at 6pm, by Wigglesworth; Wednesday, December 9 - Giggleswick village; Thursday, December 10 – Langcliffe; Monday, December 14 – Horton-in-Ribblesdale, followed, at 6pm, by Stainforth; Wednesday, December 16 – Settle’s Duke Street and Cammock Lane; Thursday, December 17 – The Mains, Giggleswick, followed at 6pm, by Stackhouse; Friday, December 18 – Settle’s Townhead, Church Street, Duke Street and Kings Mill.

Santa will also be at Settle Co-op next Saturday, December 5, from 10am to 4pm, and at Booths Supermarket on Saturdays, December 12 and 19, again from 10am to 4pm.
