FOOTBALLERS of the future have found their feet at West Craven High School, Barnoldswick.

Dean Wilson, head of PE, is celebrating the continuing success of his year seven stars as both the nine-a-side and seven-a-side teams smashed their opponents from Park, Fisher More, Primet and Pendle Vale high schools without conceding a single goal.

At home on their new 3-G pitch, the nine-a-side boys are so far undefeated the Lancashire Cup and now look forward to playing the winners of the Blackburn region in the next round of the cup.

The seven-a-side team tasted success and became the undefeated winners of the Pendle Inter Schools Tournament held at Pendle Vale.

The team will now go on to play the winners of all the Lancashire regions; this event will take place in January at the Blackburn JJB Soccer Dome.

This is the fourth time in five years, that West Craven has won the Year Seven Pendle Schools’ competition.

Mr Wilson said: “The boys arriving at West Craven have been well coached and obviously have a very good understanding of positional play – this is key to the success that we are enjoying.”

The seven-a-side team includes Harvey Ashton, Kai Frankland, Bryce Hendley, Ashton Kovacs, Myles Pickles, Harrison Prenton and Oliver Turner. The nine-a-side team those seven boys as wells as Jack Moore, Michael Roscoe and Dante Shine.
