HUNDREDS of visitors have been to take a look at the newly-refurbished Netherside Hall in Threshfield at an open day organised by new occupiers Yorkshire Camps.

Around 400 people attended the event, and the following day there was an official opening ceremony and dedication service led by the Rev David Macha, of St Michael's Church, Linton.

Some people came from as far away as Scotland and Southampton to see renovation work on the hall, which was bought for a reported £970,000 earlier this year by Christian foundation the Liz and Terry Bramall Trust.

Dozens of volunteers have worked for months to refurbish the hall, a former residential school which was closed in 2012.

Yorkshire Camps is a non-denominational Christian charity and is starting to host activity holidays for church, youth and school groups. Yorkshire Camps organisers expect it to be running at full capacity by Easter.

Yorkshire Camps' Chris and Kate Booth said: "It is amazing to look back to March 20, when we got the keys to Netherside Hall and realise all that has been achieved. So many willing volunteers and professionals have come together to support Yorkshire Camps and help realise the vision to share Jesus with children and young people."
