YORKSHIRE shepherdess Amanda Owen will be guest speaker at the next lunch organised by Skipton-based Petal, which raises funds for research into childhood cancers by Cancer Research UK.

Forty-year-old Amanda, who was named Dalesman Woman of the Year 2015, runs a 2,000-acre remote Yorkshire Dales sheep farm with her husband while, at the same time, looking after her family of eight children.

Amanda and her family appeared in Ben Fogle's recent documentary, New Lives in the Wild.

The lunch will take place at Skipton's Rendezvous Hotel on Thursday, February 11, and tickets cost £25.
