MONEY is being raised for Manorlands hospice in memory of a Barnoldswick woman who died last year.

Marlene Sharp was 67 when she passed away in February 2015.

Her daughter, Amanda Foster, of Barnoldswick, was so impressed with the care her mother had received for the six weeks she spent in Manorlands that she will be holding a fundraiser this weekend to raise money for the Oxenhope hospice.

The coffee morning fundraiser will take place on Saturday at the Pensioners Centre on Frank Street, Barnoldswick, from 10am until midday.

"Our family have seen first-hand the amazing work they do and how important it is that they can continue to care for people like my mum," said Mrs Foster.

Mrs Sharp, who was well-known in Barnoldswick, was diagnosed with lung cancer in April 2014.

"When my mum was diagnosed, it was a shock for us," said Mrs Foster. "But she carried on as much as she could.

"She was always doing things and she liked to be busy," added Mrs Foster, who said her mum did a lot of fundraisers of her own for various causes.

Coffee and tea will be served at Saturday's fundraiser and the event will feature a cake stall, tombola, Lucky Squares draw for a cash prize and a raffle.

Any donations for the raffle and tombola can be left at Sharon's Hairdressing at Post Office Buildings in Barlick until the day before the event.

Entry to the coffee morning is free and everyone is welcome.
