A PUBLIC meeting which it is hoped will 'kickstart' a community project for better broadband connections in Ingleton takes place on Monday.
A speaker from B4RN, or Broadband for the Rural North Ltd, will launch the Hyperfast Ingleton Community Project, at Ingleborough Community Centre, starting at 7pm.
B4RN is a professionally designed fibre optic broadband network, which is registered as a non-profit community benefit society and is run by locals with the support of landowners and volunteers.
The speaker, Barry Forde, is one of the founders of the society, and he received an MBE in the 2015 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to rural community broadband.
Martyn Sutton, one of the organisers of the meeting, said: "This is a community project in which the community have to get actively involved - subscribers can't just book an appointment for a man with a van to come and connect them.
"The main purpose of the meeting is to kickstart the project through raising of funds and putting together teams of volunteers to physically make the project happen."
