A SPECIAL day to raise cash for the fund to help in the search for missing Skipton man Rory Johnson-Hatfield takes place in Skipton on Sunday.

Sports and music bar The Venue, on Cavendish Street, hosts the day, which features live music, games, competitions, tombola, an auction, raffles and a bouncy castle. It starts at 2pm.

Rory, who went missing in York in the early hours of Friday, November 20, last year, is a regular customer at The Venue.

Leah Pompey, the bar's events organiser, said: "We have had a fantastic response for raffle prizes with some superb items. Everyone wants to do what they can to help.

"It promises to be a very special day, with lots of fun for everyone and I'm sure we can raise a lot of cash for the fund. Of course, all we really want is to see Rory return home safely."

The 29-year-old, a waiter at Brody's Pizzeria in Skipton, was on a night out in the city when he went missing. Extensive searches by police underwater teams and the York Rescue Boat were made in the days following his disappearance, though these had to be called off when extensive flooding hit the city.

Further searches have been made as the waters receded, including a surface search of a 15-mile stretch of the river between York and Selby, without success.

Police have again appealed to anyone who might have seen Rory in the Piccadilly area of York just after midnight on November 20 to come forward.
