WITH summer just around the corner, Pendle Council is urging people to renew their garden waste collection subscriptions.
Carole Taylor, the council’s waste management co-ordinator, said: “The gardening season has started and we’re contacting almost 8,000 customers who’ve signed up to our fortnightly garden waste collection over the last year.
“Everyone should get their letter by mid May and subscriptions for July 1 this year until June 30 need to reach us by Friday, June 17.
The annual subscription is £30 per green bin, which costs less than 60p a week.
To pay for the service visit pendle.gov.uk/gardenwaste or ring 01282 661743.
Everyone who joins the scheme will get a sticker to put on their green bin.
Carole added: “We collect almost 3,000 tonnes of garden waste a year which is recycled into compost and a huge amount is returned to local people via The Big Heap initiative run by Lancashire County Council.”
