Carleton is holding the village's first Beer Festival over the Easter weekend.

It starts on Friday and runs until Sunday and the £5 entry charge gets visitors a wristband valid for the whole weekend and includes a souvenir glass, a programme, and a pint of beer.

Tickets are available on the door at the Carleton Village Hall venue and it is hoped the event will pull in the pounds for Carleton Endowed Primary School.

As well as beers, there will also be gin, cider and prosecco available.

There will be 14 Yorkshire ales, all brewed within 20 miles, a selection of Yorkshire ciders, and some of the gin is from Yorkshire distilleries.

Organisers are also looking for sponsors who will pay £100 for a barrel of beer or £50 for half a barrel which will then display their name.

Staff from the school will be behind the bar pulling pints at the festival which includes live music on Friday and Saturday.

Headteacher Duggie Speight said: "The funds raised will make a real difference as we continue to deliver an enriching education in a stimulating school environment, in the face of ever-tightening budget controls.

"The staff and students would be extremely grateful for sponsorship which will help maximise the fundraising efforts from what promises to be a really fun community event."
