Local history: Silsden Local History Group is launching a project to support villagers interested in researching their family or local heritage. An informal afternoon session will be held once a month at Silsden Town Hall, when resources will be available to share. The next session will be on Tuesday, March 25, between 2pm and 4pm.

Proms concert: The Proms on the Farm team present Inn Jeopardy with country and western and folk music from the 60s, 70s and 80s at Silsden Golf Club from 7.30pm on Saturday, April 19. Admission is £6 and proceeds will be split between Silsden Methodist Church and Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. Tickets are available from Twiggs newsagents on Kirkgate, Silsden.

Action sale: Spencer Avenue Action Group is holding a sale in the Twisters Club on Saturday with books, bric a brac and other items. This will be open between 9am and noon and money raised will go to the road repair fund.

Camera Club: Silsden Camera Club held a meeting in St James’s Church Hall last Wednesday. The competition was church features in black and white and the results were: 1 G Pickering, 2 N Bland, 3 G Pickering. The next meeting will be in St James’s Church Hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm to discuss ideas for next year.

Sport Relief: Harry Gration and Amy Garcia, from BBC Look North, are riding the Tour De France route on a tandem in aid of Sport Relief and will be calling in at the Methodist Church on Tuesday at around 2pm for a refreshment break. Please come along on the day to meet them and present any money you have raised in aid of Sport Relief.

Bandstand: The bandstand in Silsden can be hired for free. It is not simply for use by bands – think of it as a stage. More information is available at letour2014.silsden.net/book-the-bandstand/
