Women’s Institute: Rylstone Women’s Institute welcomed speaker Mervyn Flecknoe, a voluntary leader of walks from HF Holidays. He gave an informative, illustrated talk on the organisation, founded by Thomas Leonard in 1913. The next meeting will be an open one in Cracoe Village Hall on Thursday, April 3 when entertainment will be provided by Carole and Malcolm Brown.
Mikado performance: The Aireborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society will present The Mikado at St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Linton, on Saturday from 7.30pm.
Toddler Group: The Hetton and Rylstone Babes Toddler Group has resumed on Tuesdays during term-time from 10am to noon in the schoolroom at Hetton Methodist Church. Mums, dads, grandmas, granddads and pre-school children are all invited at £1 per family per session.
Fashion show: There will be a charity fashion show in aid of the Wharfedale Support Group of Manorlands Hospice at Cracoe Village Hall next Friday, March 28 from 7.15pm. There will be ladieswear, childrenswear and accessories. Tickets cost £5, which includes a glass of wine, and are available from 01756 753139 or 01729 830038.
Local history: The Local History meeting, held at Cracoe Village Hall, was very well attended. Peter Robinson from Colne gave a talk with slides on Eshton Hall. He was accompanied by two of his friends, all old boys of the school that operated there in the 1950s and 1960s. The original hall dated back to the 11th century. Its first owners were the De Estons, followed by the Cliffords, the Bindloss family and the Wilsons. The hall was leased to the Wills family of tobacco fame from the mid 1920s to 1939. It was then used as a school and nursing home before being converted into luxury apartments in 2003.
Annual meeting: St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Hubberholme, will hold its annual general meeting in Tuesday at 7pm in the Buckden schoolroom.
Political supper: MP Julian Smith will be guest speaker at a political supper in Kettlewell Village Hall on Friday, April 4 from 7pm. Tickets cost £15 and are available on from 760886 or 770288.
Parish meeting: Arncliffe will hold its annual parish meeting in Amerdale Hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
Mobile library: The supermobile library van will be in Kettlewell’s national park car park on Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm.

Parish council: David Belk will be in the chair at the next meeting of Kettlewell Parish Council on Wednesday, April 2. It will take place in the village hall from 7pm and will be followed by the local electors’ annual meeting at 8pm.
