JUNIOR members of Settle Orchestra will perform a varied programme of music at an afternoon tea concert at Langcliffe Institute next Sunday, October 19.
The youngsters regularly perform with the orchestra around the Craven area, providing them with excellent orchestral experience and the chance to build up their orchestral repertoire.
Many of them have gone on to study music at leading universities and conservatoires including Cambridge, Birmingham, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Birmingham Conservatoire and Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
This year’s crop of young musicians play a variety of instruments and the audience will enjoy performances on the violin, cello, flute, bassoon, trumpet, trombone and marimba.
Some study on Saturdays at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and play at county or national level with groups such as the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain and the National Youth String Orchestra.
The concert will start at 3pm and admission is £5 on the door, with accompanied children admitted free. All of the proceeds will go to Settle Orchestra so it can continue its vital work in encouraging young musicians.
