A GROUP of boys from Ermysted's Grammar School, Skipton, doubled their Duke of Edinburgh's Award fundraising target.
The eight pupils, who are all completing their silver award, set themselves the target of raising £1,000 for the Martin House Hospice near Boston Spa.
But successful cake and biscuit selling at the school and match funding from Skipton Rotary Club meant they raised just under £2,000.
The boys - Julian Roche, Roshan Faiz, George Maloney, Matt Jackson, Ben Summersgill, Will Tench, Sam Stow and Lochlan Traves-Thompson - also arranged sponsorship and climbed one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
Graham Hamilton, headteacher, said it was a fantastic achievement for the boys who had arranged everything themselves, had reached their goal and made a generous donation to Martin House.
"Well done to the boys for showing such community spirit and thank you to everyone who contributed, especially Skipton Rotary Club for their generosity," he said.
