CROSS Hills youth group Friends Are Us has put some of the money raised at its annual coffee morning to good use.
The youngsters raised more than £750 for the Sick Children’s Charity and Ward 52 at Leeds General Infirmary.
LGI staff requested that its share of the money should be used to buy desperately-needed toys and books for sick children on the ward. So - with the help of local woman Liz Manley whose daughter, Tyler, attends the youth group and is recovering from a brain tumour - that is just what the youngsters did.
Liz said: “Tyler has spent some considerable time at LGI and it makes a difference if the children have toys and books to occupy them while receiving treatment. We spent over £400 and all the staff at ward 52 were very grateful."
Friends Are Us leader Helen Spilman said: “It has shown us that the money we raise each year really is put to a worthwhile cause. The children on ward 52 thought Christmas had come early."
