Bus-rail link is launched
A new integrated bus-rail link has been introduced in the Yorkshire Dales.
There is now a direct Sunday and Bank Holiday bus from Ribblehead Station to Hawes, Bainbridge and Aysgarth.
The Wensleydale Explorer bus will meet morning trains at Ribblehead, offering people the opportunity to enjoy walks along the Pennine Way or through Wharfedale and Wensleydale.
The Explorer will also go to Buckden to meet the mid- morning Wharfedale bus from Ilkley and will provide a late afternoon service for return journeys.
The bus is a joint initiative between the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle line and the Settle-based Dales and Bowland Community Interest Company. Volunteers will be on hand at Ribblehead to ensure buses wait for trains and passengers have a "seamless" journey.
The Friends of Settle-Carlisle and Dalesbus Ramblers will also be providing a programme of walks.
Over-60s with permits can use the buses free of charge and full details are available by logging onto the website dalesbus.org
