Police are hunting a hit and run driver after a community support officer was struck by a car while he was on patrol in Addingham.

The 20-year-old male officer was walking along the path in Ilkley Road when the red hatchback mounted the pavement and struck him.

The PCSO, who has not been named, was thrown into a fence and suffered minor head injuries. He was taken to Airedale General Hospital but discharged after treatment.

The accident occurred at 7.45pm last Thursday and police have confirmed the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Airedale and Bradford North CID on 0845 6060606.
