A massive search has been launched for a 55-year-old Beamsley man, who was last seen fishing on Ullswater yesterday afternoon.
Mark Bryant was staying at Side Farm campsite at Patterdale and, when he failed to return, his partner contacted the local mountain rescue team.
A large scale search began involving police, coastguard, mountain rescue and the underwater search tams and his dingy was located during the early hours of this morning between the pier and the mouth of Glenridding beck.
The search was still under way at 4pm this afternoon.
Police have circulated descriptions of Mr Bryant. He is described as white, of a stocky but slim build with long grey/blond hair who was last seen wearing shorts and sailing shoes.
Anyone with information or any sightings of Mr Bryant are urged to contact Cumbria police on 0845 3300 247.
