New waiting restrictions to go ahead in Settle
2:40pm Wednesday 27th June 2012 in Local news
New waiting restrictions at Kirkgate, Settle, are set to go ahead – despite the concerns of the ward councillor.
Councillor Richard Welch told the Craven Area Committee of North Yorkshire County Council in Bentham last week that he had received a petition from objectors, but had left it at home.
Instead, a supporter of the proposal for a hammer-head area of Kirkgate, attended the meeting and spoke in its favour. The committee was told that the area was a no through road to both residential and business properties, also serving as a pedestrian route to the town from Ashfield car park and Booths supermarket. Councillors supported the proposals after hearing they would allow access to homes off the hammer-head and also assist in vehicle movements. The proposals, which have the backing of Settle Town Council, will be operational during the day only and will now be advertised.
