Members of Skipton’s Simbach Twinning Association are about to launch monthly talks.
In a bid to breathe new life into the association, which is almost 30 years old, a series of talks is to be held at the town’s Soroptimist Rooms.
The talks, free to members but open to all, will focus on Germany and German life and will range from the food and music to places and people.
Association member Susan Broadhead said: “Our popular wine-tasting evening and the quiz night remain part of the programme and we are confident that the variety of talks will have wide appeal.”
The first talk is due to take place on Wednesday September 8 at 7.30pm, when Martina Hammond, originally from Berlin and now office administrator at Holy Trinity Church, will talk about her native city.
Further talks will be held on the second Wednesday of every month until May.
Mrs Broadhead said one of the aims of the association was to foster friendship and understanding between the people of Skipton and district and Simbach and the district of Bavaria.
Copies of the talks programme will be available at the meeting and future talks will be advertised in the town.
