A new headteacher has been appointed at a special school in Skipton.

Denise Sansom is the new headteacher at Brooklands Community Special School, on Burnside Avenue.

“I’m delighted to be here,” said Mrs Sansom. “When I came and looked at the school I loved it. I loved the atmosphere and the friendliness.”

Mrs Sansom, who was an assistant headteacher at St Giles Special School in Derby, is looking forward to working at Brooklands, which has 47 pupils aged four to 19.

“It’s very rewarding to work with pupils who have special needs,” she said. “I hope the students enjoy their time at Brooklands and be the best they can be.”
