The bells of a Barnoldswick church will ring out across the nation.
An excerpt of a newly composed peal dedicated to Barnoldswick, performed at St Mary-le-Ghyll Church, will be broadcast on the radio programme, Bells on Sunday.
The programme will air on Radio 4 at 5.43am on Sunday, coinciding with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee festivities.
Originally it was to have been broadcast on June 10.
Roy Bunn, treasurer of the Ghyll Bells Group, said: “The thrill of it is that they have chosen Jubilee Sunday, which is a privilege for us.”
And the church and Ghyll Bells Group have several other activities planned for Sunday.
The bells will ring out at 10.30am for the church’s service of celebration at 11am. It will be followed by a picnic in the grounds, or in the church if the weather is inclement.
The Ghyll Bells Group will then take part in a nationwide ringing of bells at 3pm to coincide with the Queen’s procession on the River Thames.
