The Olympic torch route through Skipton - parking and viewpoints
11:27am Thursday 21st June 2012 in Olympic Torch Relay
The torch relay route through Skipton takes in a large part of the town so there will be plenty of opportunities to ensure a good view.
Starting on Keighley Road, the Olympic torch will be carried into the centre of town, along the High Street, and back down again, before heading down Otley Road.
The route through Skipton
Suggested viewing areas, and places to park, are marked on our extended map of the route, which can be found by clicking this link... torchroute.pdf.
Residents living in Skipton are asked to try and leave their cars at home wherever possible and walk. A large influx of people are expected in the town for both the Festival and to watch the Olympic Torch and this will help ease both congestion and pressure on parking spaces. Parking is not permitted anywhere along the Torch Relay route.

Park and Ride
Park and Ride will be operating from Craven Cattle Mart and HML Car Park (BD23 1UD) from 9.30am with shuttle buses dropping off at the bus stop directly adjacent to Coach Street Car Park on Gargrave Road. The last buses will operate at 6pm. Alternatively it is a 2km walk. Information points will be operating in all the car parks. Real time information on parking availability will be given on Craven District Council’s Twitter feed, follow Craven District Council @CravenCouncil
See map for full details. A wheelchair access viewing point will be available outside 9 High Street with room for one support person/carer. Please note as the turn into Newmarket Street from the bottom of the High Street is so tight you will not be able to line the footpath there for up to 30m. As a safety precaution that area will be cordoned off from pedestrians to allow the Olympic Flame to pass through unheeded.
