The Olympic Torch will travel through Skipton on Day 37 of the Torch Relay.
On the day, the Torch will begin in Salford and will end up in Leeds with an evening celebration in the city.
It will come directly from Keighley and go to Ilkley after travelling through Skipton.
The Torch convoy is in fact two separate but linked convoys. The first or ‘Activation’ convoy is formed from the sponsors’ vehicles. The three presenting partners – Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung will have individual vehicles and will follow the police.
They will be giving away memorabilia and other product items. You are asked not to drop these items as litter ie empty Coke cans.
Approximately 15 minutes later the Olympic Torch convoy will pass, with the Olympic Torch bearers accompanied by police officers. Anyone seen to be obstructing the route of the torch will be moved by the officers. Expect to be forcibly moved if you are in the way.
The route in Skipton starts at Farm Court on Keighley Road, travels down Keighley Road, up and down the High Street, on to Newmarket Street and finishes on Otley Street. The Torch will not be seen before or after the labelled route.
Torchbearers will be dropped off at the changeover points along the route.
There will be music along route to welcome the Torch. Skipton Music Centre will be performing in front of the Magistrates Court and Water Street Samba Band will be situated on the High Street.
THE TORCH TIMETABLE
From 3pm: Advance sponsorship vehicles, Samsung, Coca Cola and Lloyds TSB arrive
Approx 3.55pm: Activation convoy together with sponsorship vehicles passes through the Olympic Torch route to check the route is clear and there are no dangers. The sponsors will also be distributing give away items to the crowd lining the route – but only on the nearside of the road. The activation convoy has been mistaken for the actual Olympic Torch convoy elsewhere in the country so be warned!
4.05pm: Olympic Torch convoy with first Torchbearers begins at Farm Court, Keighley Road (opposite Horse Close Bridge)
4.19pm: Arrives at Skipton High Street
4:23pm: Turns into Newmarket Street
4:29pm: Torch turns left at the mini roundabout onto Otley Road
4:30pm: Olympic Torch Convoy end of last Skipton Torchbearers leg at Princes Crescent junction with Otley Road
4:33pm: Convoy leaves Skipton
