TWO actors from Coronation Street will open Skipton Gala this Saturday.

After the procession, which sets off from Westmoreland Street at 1pm, Sam Aston, who plays Chesney Brown, and Dolly-Rose Campbell, who plays Gemma Winter, on the ITV soap will open this year's gala which be held in Aireville Park.

Sam, who has been on Corrie since 2003, and Dolly-Rose, who has been with the show since 2014, will be interacting with the crowds, signing autographs and taking selfies.

Geoff Dunn, who has been chairman of Skipton Gala for 22 years, said: "We've not had a celebrity open the show for many years, but we have them this year to try to get more people to come."

Organisers will be thanking retiring gala queen Rosie Marren and crowning the new rosebud queen Hana Mahmood.

There will be performances by Eclipse Jazz Band, stunt cyclist Jack Carthy, magicians Beck2beck and Craven Gym Club.

There will be a Wild Bunch cowboy shootout, a demonstration and display by the fire brigade, a funfair, Paw Patrol characters to interact with the crowds and a fireworks display.

Entry is free but all donations will be greatly received, as monies will go to help local charities and secure the future of the gala.

Organisers say volunteers are needed to help keep the gala going for years to come.
