Troubled Fresh Radio suspended its live broadcasting for part of last week.

Instead, the Skipton-based radio station played a continuous loop of music, fuelling speculation about financial difficulties.

Earlier this month, a winding-up order for Fresh Radio Ltd was announced in the London Gazette, but Laser Broadcasting, which bought the station last year, said a new company had been formed and there was no question of it going off air.

Operations director Stuart Linnell blamed last week's problems on technical difficulties.

He said: "We have had some technical issues, but they should all be behind us now.

"As part of our switch from AM to FM at Fresh we are reviewing all our technical and transmitter arrangements and facilities with a view to ensuring that issues like this do not cause us a problem long-term."

This cant be allowed to go on.

Such matters should be immediately reported to the appropriate authority, Ofcom and the company should be made to hand over the licence to somebody that knows how to tun a radio station properly.

They clearly are out of money and the 'setting up of new companies' would appear to be a way of simply not paying heir debts to local, well-meaning businesses.

Its outrageous!

Mike Peters is totally correct in what he says. The thing is the non-stop music was miles better than the inane drivel that normally comes out Fresh Radio. Let's just pray that the winding up order against them is successful in April and the Dales can have a station that they can be proud of, not run by a set of amateurs like the current lot.

This little radio station has been struggling for finance since it started as YDR. A large area with low population = cash problems by scarce and/or cheap advertising. Community radio all the way for this licence me thinks.

I think that people should write to ofcom to ask them what they are doing about this situation. We deserve better than what we are being given from the people that run this business.

Are there no rules regarding what they do?
