Barnoldswick Town 5 Armthorpe Welfare 2
Barnoldswick Town eased into the Third Round of the FA Vase with a convincing win over Armthorpe Welfare of the Baris Northern Counties East League.
Town got off to great start when joint player-manager Stewart Airdrie opened the scoring in the 8th minute, and Liam Garbutt doubled the advantage before Armthorpe’s Joe Lumsden reduced the deficit from the penalty spot before half time.
Airdrie grabbed his second goal 90 seconds after the restart, but the spirited visitors again got back into the game with a goal from Richard Smith midway through the second half.
But two goals in the last four minutes from Harry Thompson and Mark Threlfall secured Town’s victory.
Town had to overcome the pre-match setback of losing goalkeeper Marko Marosi, ever-present between the sticks this season, but replacement Alex Woodcock had plenty of time to settle in without being troubled, as Town dominated the opening 25 minutes.
