Esher 64, Wharfedale 20
When you are playing a top side at the top of their game, you don’t need five injuries - but that’s what Wharfedale were up against in this SSE National League one match.
The home side played a fast and fluent game which was always going to be too good, although at 29-20 in the 64th minute they were beginning to regret their missed kicks.
But with the Greens down to 13 fit but exhausted men, Esher’s 28 points in the last 15 minutes, including four tries, were a cruel reward for the visitors’ efforts.
Wharfedale’s two tries were scored by Dan Solomi, with the faultless boot of Tom Barrett adding the conversions as well as two penalty goals.
