Earby members watch as Fahid Rehman signs on
Earby have signed a promising young cricketer as their professional for the 2013 Ribblesdale League season.
Twenty-one-year-old Fahid Rehman from Bradford is tipped for a bright future and has already caught the eye of coaching staff at Durham County Cricket Club.
As a youth he represented Yorkshire at under-15 and under-19 level.
He will replace Ali Azmat at Earby and play as he completes his studies to qualify as an optician.
Rehman is a left-hand batsman who also bowls medium/fast and has produced some impressive performances in his short senior career.
During the 2011 season he scored over 1,000 runs for Saltaire as they won promotion from Division Two of the Bradford League.
Last season he made 595 runs at 42.50 in Division One and was named the league’s Young Player of the Year.
His highest score is 202 not out for Bradford University against Sunderland University in the quarter-final of the Inter-University Cup.
“Fahid has a great personality and we think we have found a great prospect for the club. He has already produced some superb performances in one of the toughest cricket leagues and we are sure he will make a great contribution to the club,” said committee member Peter Wear.
