Settle’s cricketers are refusing to be bowled over by the winter weather and have arranged a Twenty/20 game of “Baltic Style” ice cricket for Saturday (1.30).
With the big freeze kicking in for a second week the two big sporting clubs of North Ribblesdale, will face each other on the cricket field.
Settle Cricket Club will take on North Ribblesdale Rugby Union Club in the match at snowbound Marshfield.
The match will be played with a yellow rebberoid ball and the specially adapted rules include power plays with all the fielders in the circle.
Losing the match could prove a painful experience. The specially drafted match rules state that individuals from the losing team shall buy their opposing number two pints of ale or lager and be subjected to an ice bath.
