Settle’s Harriet Akeroyd was in top form for a six-strong Quest Taekwondo team in the Notting- ham Cup at the Wildcats Arena.

The tournament was run using a system called Dae Do Protective Scoring System, which was seen at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The electronic scoring system automatically assesses and scores kicks connecting to the body that are powerful enough, each of which scores one point.

Corner judges score punches worth one point and and kicks to the head that earn three or four points.

Harriet, 16, was one of two gold medal winners for Quest in an event that attracted 350 competitor.

She dominated her opponent from Leeds Lions in the final of her category Harriet scored with two head kicks and multiple body kicks to create a comfortable advantage oon the scoreboard.

Silsden’s Natasha Burdock, 15, won a silver, after defeating opponents from BTS (Southampton) and Halton (Runcorn) before losing to a Liverpool Academy contestant in the final in her under 44kg group.

In all the Quest team won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
