Ash Greaves appointed as Skipton's first rugby development officer
10:51am Thursday 3rd October 2013 in Sport
Ash Greaves, who has played much of his rugby at the club, has taken up the role.
He has had a wealth of experience in developing sport on a local, national and international level and Skipton are looking for him to help lift the club’s standing.
When offered the role at Sandylands, Greaves was really keen to stress the impact this can have on the club.
He said: “This is a great time for the club.
“Having someone out in the community will really raise the profile of the club and open more doorways not just to the playing side of rugby, but in obtaining support from potential partners also.”
Greaves, whose CV includes working at Camp America and with UK Sport in Namibia, explained that the role can help both players and coaches at the club and is keen to do so as much as possible.
“Coaching is an amazing thing to do, and our volunteers at the club are an invaluable resource to us.
“Making sure coaches have the opportunity to develop and learn is key to any success at any club and this role provides exactly that,” he stressed.
Greaves will be around the club to support all its coaches both on training nights and Sunday mornings too.
