Timely performances from Skipton swimmers

Skipton’s swimmers were in action last weekend at the Yorkshire Swimming Assoc- iation Winter Competition 2013 at Ponds Forge. The team performed well with personal bests being achieved in 76 per cent of the races.
Ten-year-old Niamh Mirfield beat her best by eight seconds in the 100m breaststroke and gained a North East region qualifying time of 1.39.55.
Joel Philip (11) took five seconds off his fastest time as he also claimed a NE region qualifying time of 1.37.70 in the boys’ 100m breaststroke.
Hannah Raistrick (11), pictured, was in tremendous form and produced the performances of the weekend, finishing with three top ten placings and gaining four NE region qualifying times.
In the 100m backstroke she was eighth with a personal best of 1.17.50.
Hannah sliced ten seconds off her personal best while coming eighth in the 200m individual medley in 2.48.32 and rounded off the weekend with a tremendous swim in the 100m freestyle to finish sixth in 1.07.43 to set a club record.
Other top ten finishers were Luke Midgley (11) who was seventh in the boys 100m breaststroke in a time of 1.29.06 which was six seconds faster than his previous best.
Jessica Smith-Green (13) set a club record of 1.02.05 after coming sixth in the 100m freestyle.
Patrick Crompton clocked 1.11.35 to set a club record in the boys 16 years 100m breaststroke. Lauren Hanson did likewise as she recorded 1.11.12 in the girls 14 years 100m butterfly.
Skipton captain Adam Sayedi set two club records in the 17 years 200m individual medley and 100m freestyle with times of 2.22.00 and 55.58 respectively.
