Thackley needing derby response against Liversedge
Thackley need to bounce back from their disappointing midweek defeat if they are to give themselves a chance of regaining top spot in the Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division on Saturday.
The Dennyboys were second best as they slumped to a 3-1 loss at promotion rivals Worksop Parramore on Tuesday, a result which has seen them lose their summit spot to Tadcaster Albion.
Taddy lead on goal difference only and have played two games more. But it means Thackley will have to refocus and will also have to contend with the derby factor for a second successive Saturday.
Sedge may by 15th but they will have their tails up after taking a well-deserved point from a 3-3 draw at Bridlington Town on Wednesday.
Brighouse Town are still very much in the title race as they sit fourth with four games in hand on the new leaders and two in hand on Thackley.
They underlined their credentials in midweek when they hammered lowly Winterton Rangers 9-1 for their sixth win in their last seven league games.
On Saturday they host Long Eaton United, who remained in 18th place following their 1-1 home draw with Heanor Town on Wednesday.
In Division One, Eccleshill bounced back from three defeats in all competitions on Wednesday with a 2-2 draw at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.
However, the Eagles will still have to be on their mettle to get anything from their trip to 15th-placed Hemsworth MW, even though their hosts are averaging just over a point per game after 16 starts.
Hemsworth’s new management duo are well known in this area. Manager Wayne Benn and assistant Andy Hayward, who were appointed last week, are former Bradford Park Avenue team-mates.
Silsden are in North West Counties League Cup action as the Premier Division clubs join the competition at the second-round stage. The Cobbydalers are mid-table in the top tier and have home advantage against Formby, who are fifth in Division One.
The visitors are in form, having won five of their last six starts.
