Old Grovians 35 Skipton 0

Struggling Skipton drew another blank in their desperate search for points to pull clear of the Yorkshire Division Three relegation zone.

The Reds competed well in the first half and limited their newly-promoted opponents to just two penalty goals.

Their scrum and line-out functioned well and kept Skipton in contention.

The tackling was also resolute with Charlie Brown setting the tone.

The second half was a different story as the youthful Old Grovians took charge.

Jack Baker, who played for Cambridge in the recent Varsity Match, was among their try scorers.

One bright spot for Skipton was the performance of full back Callum Patrick.

Last season 23 points was the cut off for relegation. If that is an accurate guide Skipton, who currently have 16, need to secure at least seven more points from their remaining games.
