Silsden hoping for rare outing
It may be the second Saturday in the second month of the year but Silsden are looking to see meaningful action for only the second time in 2014 this weekend.
The Cobbydalers are hoping that the worst of the wet weather has passed as they gear up for a Premier Division trip to Runcorn Town on Saturday in the North West Counties League.
Four of Silsden’s last five games have been shelved due to waterlogged pitches at a time when the club are looking for a run to pull clear of the drop zone.
The Cobbydalers are just four points above the bottom two, although they now have games in hand on their fellow strugglers.
Runcorn, on the other hand, are challenging at the opposite end, where their neighbours Runcorn Linnets are top. Town are seven points adrift and the Linnets have played two fewer games.
Town need the points to stay in touch as Glossop North End and AFC Liverpool could both overhaul them should they lose to the Cobbydalers.
