The West Riding County Amateur League could be requesting an extension to their season from the West Riding County Football Association.

This action might be taken as over 80 games have been postponed since the start of 2014, some teams have not played since December, there are only 13 weeks of the season remaining and the chances of any games this weekend look increasingly unlikely.

The two remaining quarter-final ties in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup - Bay Athletic v Field and Steeton v Brighouse Town Reserves - are very much in doubt, although Bay Athletic are still trying to secure the use of an 3G all-weather pitch for their game.

Steeton will be looking for at least a break in the weather so they can prepare their ground for the cup-tie.

Should both or either of these games be postponed, they will roll over to the following and subsequent Saturdays until they are played, with Ovenden West Riding awaiting the winner of the Bay Athletic v  Fields tie, while Steeton, should they be successful, will play Goole United AFC in the other tie.

The league are still open to applications from ambitious clubs who wish to progress and have the required criteria, or a development plan in place to have that criteria, within their first season in the league.

Applications should be made by e-mail to the league's general secretary at wrcaflgensec@aol.com.
