Silsden 3 AFC Liverpool 1

Silsden celebrated their first home game since December 14 with a victory against high-flying AFC Liverpool.

The win eased the Cobbydalers’ relegation worries and it was a third consecutive home league victory.

They were on course for it as early as the 18th minute after rattling in two quick goals.

Chris Wademan broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 16th minute after being brought down himself.

Soon after Wademan was put through by Matthew Moses and, although he stumbled, he managed to round the goalkeeper and slot home.

The best goal of the game was Silsden’s third and that came six minutes before the break. Moses and Owen Deakin-Pickard combined before the former sent in a low centre that was tapped in at the far post by Lee McGowan.

The visitors responded just before the hour-mark and that was also a contender for goal of the game. Ryan Cox had his back to goal when he collected the ball but he controlled, spun and fired into the top corner.

Liverpool remain seventh despite the defeat, while the Cobbydalers move up one place to 17th.
