Silsden 2, Winsford United 1

Silsden had to ride their luck at times against Winsford but a Zack Dale double earned them a much-needed victory that should keep them in the North West Counties League top tier.

The Cobbydalers took a very early lead when Dale slotted home an Anthony Lynch cross after good work from Dale Feather.

Josh McNulty could have doubled their lead on the quarter-hour mark but he placed his shot just wide.

Winsford were also creating chances, with Harry Noon going close on occasions and Osebi Abidaki causing problems with his lighting speed.

They almost levelled just before the break when an Abidaki shot was parried by home keeper Ed Hall, while Michael Jones headed over from the resulting corner.

But they did not have to wait too long to get their equaliser as centre back Jones was up for another corner two minutes into the second half and he timed his run to meet the ball perfectly.

The Cobbydalers’ winner came in the 75th minute when Andy Hill took a short pass and found Dale, who was running across the area.

The Guiseley youngster, who is playing for Silsden on dual registration, picked his moment to roll the ball towards goal.

The effort did not have much pace but it was inch-perfect in direction and it found the corner of the net.
