Cinderford 55, Wharfedale 26

A typical end of season scrappy match saw Wharfedale secure one point to end in ninth position in SSE National League One.

Cinderford, secure for another season, scored nine tries to Wharfedale's four in a match that never came to life as a competition.

Cinderford came out of the blocks playing attractive open rugby and raced into a 19-0 lead after 11 minutes through tries from Wilcox, Baker and Adams, two converted by Davies.

The Cinderford set piece was working well and a slick move from a lineout resulted in Codlin securing the fourth bonus point try, converted by Davies.

Wharfedale at last started to exert some pressure on the Cinderford back line and a quick tap penalty by Woodhead created the space for Beasley to crash over. Barrett converted to leave the score 26-7 at half-time.

Wharfedale got off to the worst possible restart in losing possession in their own 22, allowing Codlin to cross the line for a converted try.

A loose kick from Davies was collected by Robbie Davidson, who set up a ruck and a deft pass to Woodhead on the blind side set up a second converted try for Wharfedale.

Strategic substitutions in the Wharfedale pack tightened the set piece which resulted in a converted penalty try and a well worked rolling maul where Howard touched down an unconverted try, making the score 45-26 in the 61st minute.

The in experienced Wharfedale back line started to tire, allowing centre Whinchle to score two unconverted tries, making the final score 55-26.
