Skipton racer James Greenway is the new leader of the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup.

The 23-year-old moved to the top of the championship points table on Monday when he claimed his first race win in the series.

Greenway was competing in his White Rose Volkswagen-backed Scirocco at the Rockingham speedway in Northamptonshire.

He qualified fourth on the grid and raced to fourth place in the opening event of the day, which was won by his AWM team-mate Aaron Mason.

In race two, Greenway took the lead on the opening lap after making a fine start from third on the grid.

SlideSports David Sutton pressed hard and took the lead on the fifth lap.

Sutton lasted three laps in front before gremlins attacked his gearbox and exiting the Tarzan hairpin he slowed and Greenway went away to win.

Greenway leads overall by four points from Sutton as the championship heads to Silverstone at the end of May for rounds five and six.
