UpperWharfedale claimed the local bragging rights when they inflicted a ten-wicket defeat on Skipton in the Aire-Wharfe Division Two clash at Sandylands on Monday.

Last season’s Division Three champions were skittled out for just 83 as the team that finished second to them took their revenge.

They soon had Skipton reeling at 10-2 on a damp track and they never let them off the hook.

The home side were unable to come to terms with the bowler-friendly conditions with only Keir Nelson (30) and Stephen Carling (20) making double figures.

Once they departed the innings went into sharp decline as Upper Wharfedale made sure they didn’t surrender the initiative against their closest rivals.

Australian Caleb Grant took 4-23 before skipper Jamie Freebury (3-3) and spinner Dave Eggleton (3-18) exploited the conditions.

Openers Isaac Beck (37no) and Eggleton (36no) shared an unbroken partnership of 84 to seal Upper Wharfedale’s victory in just 12.4 overs.
