MEWIES Solicitors Craven League DIVISION ONE leaders Oakworth may have been regretting their decision to bat when they entertained Foulridge.

The hosts were reduced to 16-3, only for Michael Scarborough and Paul Spragg to add 118 for the fourth wicket, with Spragg contributing 36.

Scarborough eventually went for 77 (one six, 12 fours) shortly after and their good work was carried on by Jack Davison, who made 64 not out from 41 balls, including three sixes and four fours, to take the total to 234-8.

Davison then claimed 4-33 and Adam Smith 3-42 as the Noyna side made 176-8 in reply.

The Cure Hill side are now five points clear after second-placed Ingrow St John’s went down by six wickets at next-to-bottom Thornton.

Saints posted a creditable 187, with Deepal Dissanayake top-scoring with 48, but Thornton's reply was always on track as they made 188-4 off 39.2 overs.

Crossflatts moved into second by beating bottom side Cowling by two wickets at the Coliseum.

The home side managed 182-6, with new recruit Banaras Hussain making 36 as Qamar Ayub took 3-66.

Alex Bradbury (59) and Feyaz Akram (35no) were the backbone of the Ryshworth Park side's 184-8 but Cowling will not be happy that they conceded 30 extras, especially when the winning runs were scored in the 43rd over.

Barrowford made 174-4 at home to Haworth, and the Bronte side's innings closed on 164-9, with their last man being injured and unable to bat. Jamie Rowell made 44.

The usually prolific batsmen of Riddlesden came unstuck at Haworth Road, being hustled out for 91, with Muhammed Zahid taking 6-37 and Umar Farooq 4-36. The former then scored 30 as the Baildon Bottom side got home by six wickets.

There was a nail-biting, high-scoring game at Beckfoot, where Embsay were the visitors.

Bingley Congs rattled up 216-9, Chris Dibb (49) and Andrew Copping (46) putting on 94 for the first wicket, and Neil Copping and Matt Roberts chipping in with 25 and 23 respectively as Duncan Ward took 3-39 and Arslam Hussain 3-40.

John Golson (62) and Josh Robinson (58) then put on 97 for the visitors' first wicket. However, the innings was faltering before Phil Binner smashed a four and three sixes to take his side to the points by two wickets with an over to go. Harry Greenhalgh was in the wickets again, taking 3-46.

The only unbeaten record in the league came to an end as DIVISION TWO leaders Glusburn slipped up at Wilsden by one wicket in another game that was full of runs.

The visitors made 209-8, Ian Simons leading the way with 66 as Colin Bottomley took 3-68. Wilsden took 44.1 overs to get over the line, with Bottomley (86no) leading the way as Simons took 3-50.

Second-placed Sutton also lost and dropped down to fourth in the table. The Royd Hill side travelled to Chatburn, elected to bat and made 152, with skipper Craig Thornton (65) and Dave Snowden (31) leading the way.

The Ribble Valley side reached their target in the 43rd over with two wickets to spare as Richard Walker claimed 4-54 and Si Doane 3-55.

Chatburn are third behind Bradley, who won an acrimonious game against Denholme at Matthew Lane by 30 runs.

Chris Capstick (40) was the mainstay of the hosts' 130, with Alasdair Gerrard taking 4-22. James Heseltine (6-16) and Casper Bean (3-19) restricted the visitors to 100.

The basement battle beaten Hepworth & Idle and Barrowford II went the way of the red-rose side by three wickets.

The Westfield Laners were restricted to 131, with Craig Green making 33 and the Bull Holme side replied with 135-7.

Long Lee came a cropper at Sandy Lane as, having reached 92-3, they collapsed to 109 all out, Steve Carass doing the damage to finish with 7-37 off 17.3 overs.

The Greenwood Park side lost eight wickets getting to their target, Lee Crowther (33no) marshalling the tail as they got home in the 35th over.

Ingrow’s openers were in scintillating form at home to Oakworth II. Mark Price (70no) and Wayne Exley (71no) took them to a stunning ten-wicket victory in 27.4 overs. Earlier the Cure Hill side had posted 146-8, with Simon Howell making 35 as Jake Hoyle took 5-45.

DIVISION THREE leaders Gargrave were at Street Lane and saw the Saints’ post a promising 196-9, with the top score being Saqib Iqbal's 29 as John Beckwith finished with 4-25.

In a tense finish, the front-runners reached their target with eight wickets down, Lee Barrett (59) and Beckwith 54 having an opening stand of 100 to set the platform for the victory.

Nine-man Wilsden II were unable to stop second-placed Pendle Forest keep up their winning momentum. Dismissed for 84, the Windy Grove side went down by four wickets at Fence

Airedale moved into third after seeing off Haworth Road II at Bradford Road. The hosts made 207-9, with Matt Cox top-scoring with 66. The Baildon Bottom side replied with 193.

Cononley lowered the colours of third-placed Skipton CI in South Craven. The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl, and it looked to have worked quite well as the hosts were dismissed for 123, of which Andrew Starkey made 51 as John Stuttard took 5-70 and Sam Smith 3-46.

However, things unravelled as CI were knocked over for 104, with Herbie Starkey taking 4-29 and Joel Grainger 4-31.

Thornton II encountered few problems against Bradford & Bingley III at Aire View. Firstly they plundered 175-4 before knocking over the home side for a paltry 32, with nobody getting double figures.

Embsay II went down by 46 runs at home to Haworth West End. Andy Holt (34) and four batsmen in the twenties helped the Bronte side to 166-9, Stephen Speak bowling through to finish with 7-47.

He followed this with the top score of 29 as the Shires Laners were all out for 120, with Andy Benfield taking 5-60.

Riddlesden II continue to lead DIVISION FOUR after hammering Bingley Congs II by 171 runs.

Rob Gumbley (84) and Shehryer Hussain(49) were the main contributors of the Grange Road side's 230-8 after they had been 43-5. The Beckfoot Lane side replied with a modest 59 as Mick Hawkes took 4-18.

Haworth II were at home to second-placed Eldwick & Gilstead and made 173, with Nick Trowers making 63 as Douglas Day took 4-9. The visitors stormed home by seven wickets, with Simon Timperley scoring 44, Chris Childs 42 and Arnie Raistrick 42 not out.

Foulridge II won a low-scoring game with Oakworth III at Noyna by 22 runs. The home side were dismissed for 95, with Joel Fothergill taking 5-32 and Tom Fothergill 4-20. The Cure Hill side were then knocked over for 73.

Paul McCullough (94no), Patrick Lee (64) and Dominic Mortimer (44no) helped Glusburn II to a massive 247-4 at home to Ingrow II. The Hainworth side roared back to close on 228, with Jake Hoyle making 65, Ben Weatherall 51 and Matt Courtman 40 as Bryan Hollis took 6-82 off 22 overs and Mortimer 3-84.

Crossflatts II conceded their game with Airedale II because they were unable to raise a team.

DIVISION FIVE leaders Gargrave II recovered from 66-8 to reach 127-8 at Skipton Road, which resulted in their game with Cononley II ending in a tie.

For the visitors, Luke Ashworth made 57 not out of their 127-7 with Stuart Weatherill taking 3-11. In the dramatic finish, Chris Smith (34no) and Weatherill (27no) took the hosts so close to victory.

Veteran Ray Jones (5-39) and Sajid Shafait (3-19) helped Cowling II to dismiss Sutton II for 138 at Royd Hill, with Stuart Tillotson scoring 53.

Two more evergreens, Steve Dalby (37) and John Cleaver (41no) helped the visitors to a two-wicket victory off the last ball off the game, with Sam Solley taking 4-51 and Tony Walton 3-49.

Chatburn II enjoyed a five-wicket win over Skipton CI at Sandylands, and Long Lee II went down by 30 runs to Bradley II at Golden View.
