WHARFEDALE Harriers’ Ted Mason scored another clear win in the Kirkby Gala Fell Race on Saturday.

He made the most of the mild conditions to finish ahead of John Atkinson of Ambleside who was the first local home. Wharfedale Harriers’ Jack Smith was third.

The first lady to complete the 4.3-mile course, was Helm Hill’s Evelyn Dugdale, with Ruth Hetherington of Border Harriers second and Wharfedale Harriers’ Lyn Whittaker in third.

Thomas Nelson scored another victory for Wharfedale Harriers as he sped home in first place in the under-17 race. He was followed by Mercia’s Billy Starling and Helm Hill’s Jacob Aubrey.

It was a good day for Helm Hill under-17 girls as Katherine Lawson, Mia Senior and Georgia Stevens filled the top positions.

The under-14 race saw Hyndburn’s Joshua Boyle achieve another win with Ilkley Harriers’ Euan Brennan hot on his heels in second place and Helm Hill’s Robert Askew coming in third.

The first under-14 girl was Clayton-le-Moors Briony Holt followed by Mia Walsh and Imogen Burrow, both of Helm Hill who were second and third respectively.

The first under-12 boy was Broughton Runners’ Ben Edmondson, followed by two Wharfedale Harriers’ – Jack Muir and William Thompson – in second and third positions.

In the girls' race, Charlotte Barrett and Alice Jones of Wharfedale Harriers came home ahead of Lauryn Gregg of Rossendale, who was third.

Olesia Winder won the under-nine race. The scond girl was Blackburn Harriers Alayna Irvine and third was Olivia Swarbrick of Broughton Runners.

The first boy was Allithwaite’s Evan Allan, followed by Luke Forshaw and Isaac Barber in second and third places respectively.
