Settle caused a major upset at Chatburn Road by inflicting a rare defeat on runaway Senior League Section A leaders Clitheroe.

Pro Imran Khalid continues to shine with bat and ball.

The hosts batted first, only for skipper Eddy Read to strike in his second over.

Khalid was swift to join the action with figures of 4-62, while later support came from Adil Islam (2-39) and Andrew Davidson (2-52).

Chasing a total of 138, Settle lost two quick wickets with five on the board but Khalid stroked his way to an unbeaten 75, accompanied by another man in form, Robbie Davidson, who made 49.

The result was then a formality as the target was overhauled inside 32 overs.

Barnoldswick’s relegation was confirmed with two games to play after their ten-wicket defeat by Read.

The 2012 champions were bowled out for a miserable 90.

Earby’s hopes of replacing them in the top section were hampered by the weather.

Replying to a Euxton score of 219-5, Preston White making a fine 102, Earby were struggling at 37-2 when rain led to play being abandoned.

Division Two leaders Settle 2nd XI are back on track for the title after a resounding home victory against Brinscall.

David Hulse (10) and John Tarbox (29) showed the way, while James Holgate battled through injury to reach 42, his highest score for the club in a total of
133-9.

The bowlers then did an excellent job to dismiss the visitors for 42.

Damon Barrett (4-10) was the star of the show, well supported by Ben Mitchell (3-10) and John Tarbox (2-7).
